Hypercom Corp.'s Artema Modular unattended payment terminal and P2100 PIN pad have earned "common criteria" certifications from APACS, a United Kingdom trade group that represents issuers, a Hypercom spokesperson tells CardLine Global. The APACS certification "is a UK-specific security accreditation" that differs from Payment Card Industry data-security standards and the EMV  global antifraud application used in chips cards. The Hypercom products already have the latter certifications, the spokesperson adds. The United States-based terminal maker expects to sell "several thousand" of the recently certified machines by the end of the year, the spokesperson says. APACS previously certified such other Hypercom products as the M4200 Bluetooth and GPRS mobile terminals and the S9 PIN Pad.
