Samport Payment Services AB, an authorized Hypercom distributor and service partner in the Nordic countries, is providing the EMV mobile-payment terminals to Taxi Stockholm AB, whose cabs transport more than 40,000 riders per day, Hypercom says. Structab AB is providing the MegTax taximeter that works in conjunction with the payment terminal.

During a transaction, the driver hands the terminal to the customer with the amount of the fare already entered. The terminal prompts the customer to proceed in the local language, or he can choose his own. The customer then enters the gratuity amount, swipes or inserts a payment card for authorization, enters a personal identification number and receives a printed receipt.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
