i2c hires former Visa exec Jim McCarthy as president

Redwood City, Calif.-based processor i2C has hired Jim McCarthy as president, two years after Visa dismissed the card network’s former innovation chief.

McCarthy previously spent 18 years at Visa, rising to become executive vice president of innovation and strategic partnerships before his termination in December 2017. McCarthy was let go for violating company policy, according to Recode.

At i2C McCarthy reports to Amir Wain, CEO, who founded the company in 2001 with a focus on prepaid debit card processing, later expanding to support credit, debit and cryptocurrency payments.

“Jim brings a deep knowledge of the payments industry and innovation as well as a proven ability to connect with and establish long-term effective partnerships with clients,” Wain said in a Monday press release.
