India's Corporation Bank says it has received regulatory approval from the country's Central Board of Direct Taxes to offer tax-payment services at ATMs. Customers with debit cards issued by the Mangalore-based bank can pay income taxes at the financial institution's approximately 1,000 ATMs, Corporation Bank says in a statement. "The idea behind this is to make income tax payments easier for individual taxpayers," Corporation Bank Chairman and Managing Director J. M. Garg says in the statement. "It will also reduce dependence of our customers on … income tax consultants." Immediate comment from the bank was unavailable. The regulatory approval takes effect this month.
