The Reserve Bank of India, the country's central bank, has ordered all banks in the country to publish detailed information on their Web sites about their credit card offerings. The Reserve Bank also has called on issuers to print brochures containing credit card information and to distribute the brochures at bank branches. The central bank says such information should include interest rates and fee amounts. "This [information] enables customers to make informed decisions regarding [the] products and services of the bank and [to] be aware of their rights," the bank says in a statement. The statement comes after the Reserve Bank called for more "transparency" from issuers about their credit card products (CardLine Global, 4 Sept.).
