France-based Ingenico SA has signed an agreement with Card Commerce to put the Ireland-based prepaid-services firm's card-acceptance software on Ingenico terminals. The deal means "Ingenico's range of terminals will be automatically capable of shipping with our software preloaded in order to enable a closed-loop prepaid product to operate alongside normal credit and debit card acceptance," Eoin Whyte, Card Commerce sales director, tells CardLine Global. Terminals already installed can have the Card Commerce software "downloaded remotely," Whyte says. The deal applies not only to Ireland but also to the United Kingdom, the Nordic countries in Europe, and Belgium, Luxemburg and the Netherlands, Whyte says. Card Commerce provides prepaid card services to such firms as Elavon, the United States-based merchant-processing subsidiary of U.S. Bancorp; UK-based issuer Barclaycard; and UK-based financial institution HSBC, Whyte adds, declining to say how many card accounts Card Commerce services.
