Incipio Technologies introduced its Cashwrap sleeve for Apple Inc. iPhones two years ago as a way for merchants to accept card payments in the same manner as a Square mobile reader.
Now, with the backing of AT&T, Incipio is unveiling the latest version of Cashwrap — an iPhone case that includes an NFC chip as well as the Isis Mobile Wallet application.
Incipio and AT&T introduced the Cashwrap sleeve Jan. 8 at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, saying it would be initially available in March to consumers with an iPhone 4 or 4S. The companies touted the product as a way for a consumer with an iPhone to initiate contactless Isis payments at an NFC-enabled terminal in the same manner as using NFC-equipped phones sold by the major mobile network operators — AT&T, T-Mobile USA and Verizon Wireless — behind the Isis joint venture.

Incipio executives attending the Las Vegas show were not available for comment, but the Irvine, Calif.-based mobile accessories company’s customer service department confirmed that the case includes NFC technology and an Isis application.
Incipio will sell the Cashwrap mobile wallet case to consumers for $60 to $70, the company stated in a press release.
When contacted, AT&T spokesman Andrew Morgan said the telecommunications company could not comment about the Cashwrap product beyond what Incipio says. Isis did not provide answers to inquiries by deadline.
