Jeroo Inc. said it is testing a mobile payment technology called Scan&Ship Enterprise.
The system lets consumers purchase items by taking a picture of a bar code with their phones at a retail store. The item is then shipped to the consumer.
“Jeroo wants to reverse … [roles] by enabling the customer, not the 'store clerk,’ to scan the items’ bar codes using a mobile phone,” the company said in a press release April 14.
Jeroo says this system would benefit buyers of heavy items such as home appliances, electronics and furniture.
