Sweden-based Klarna has partnered with GhostBed, a U.S. online mattress retailer, as the payments company expands its reach with more direct-to-consumer brands.
Klarna, which has been a popular checkout option for several years in Europe, launched in the U.S. in 2015. Consumers checking out with Klarna need only their email address and shipping address for instant approval from within GhostBed’s website, Klarna announced Feb. 28.
“Increasingly, the ability to enable consumers to complete the checkout and instant-financing process within the merchant’s website is a big advantage for streamlining e-commerce sales,” said Bill Billingsley, CEO of Klarna North America, in an interview.
Plantation, Fla.-based GhostBed, which ships beds within 24 hours, offers a range of payment options including credit and debit cards, PayPal, Pay with Amazon and Zibby, another online finance company targeting consumers with low or no credit ratings.
Klarna now reaches 45 million consumers via 65,000 merchants in the U.S. and Europe via merchants including Lenovo, Wish.com, Wacom and Spotify. Overstock.com was one of the first U.S. online merchants offering Klarna as a checkout option.
