RHB Bank Bhd. expects to add almost 500,000 credit cardholders this year through a promotional campaign that targets shoppers, an official from the Malaysia-based issuer tells PaymentsSource.
“We also expect to add the same number of debit cardholders with the new campaign,” he says. The bank currently issues about 1.3 million debit cards and 800,000 credit cards.
The bank expects to add at least 30,000 customers for both card types during the next few months with its “Win Like Crazy with your RHB Cards” campaign, according to the official.
Under the campaign, which began on June 1 and runs through end of August, consumers who sign up for the programs earn a chance to win up to 300,000 ringgits (US$90,758 or 74,222 euros) in cash prizes. To qualify, they must spend a minimum of 80 ringgits in a single transaction, match the last two digits of the transaction-approval code with the last two digits of their national identification number and send a text message to a customer service number to qualify for a chance to win.
RHB Bank is the banking subsidiary of the RHB Banking Group, the fourth largest fully integrated financial service group in Malaysia. The bank issues both Visa- and MasterCard-branded credit and debit cards.
