Supported by CardSmith LLC, New England Conservatory this week launched an upgraded multiapplication campus card program that makes the campus virtually cashless, the Doylestown, Pa.-based campus card service provider announced on Aug. 2.
CardSmith also worked with Jacksonville (Fla.) University earlier this month to upgrade its campus card program to eliminate the need for students and faculty to carry cash (
Cardsmith says its transaction processing-platform and card program-management service powers the Boston-based school’s Penguin Pass closed-loop campus identification card program. CardSmith also will manage the technical and financial operations for the program.
Conservatory students may use the card to make purchases through their Cold Cash discretionary spending account at various off-campus merchants through CardSmith’s Campus Cash network of more than 75 off-campus businesses in the Boston area. The retailers include CVS Pharmacy, Domino’s Pizza, Dunkin Donuts and True Value Hardware stores. CardSmith eventually plans to expand its Campus Cash network to include additional locations closer to the conservatory’s campus.
The card also supports access to several campus facilities and services, including library privileges, dining plans, copy and vending machines, laundry rooms, and the school’s print shop.
