New York's oldest CU picks Payveris for API-based digital payments

Manhattan-based Municipal Credit Union has launched a cloud-based open API platform from Payveris that supports digital payments and commerce, including account-to-account transfers, bill payment and other services on desktop, tablet and mobile devices.

The $2.5 billion credit union is integrating Payveris’ white-label offering directly into Municipal’s existing digital banking platform from Wescom Resources Group and its core banking system, Symitar, the institution said in a Jan. 10 press release.

Municipal Credit Union picked Payveris because of its comprehensive services and suites of APIs and widgets that streamline money movement across digital channels, according to the release.

“The platform is very flexible and designed to accommodate innovation, which helps us stay ahead of consumer demand for new payments services,” said Michael Mattone, the credit union's vice president of public relations and corporate communications, in the release.

Municipal Credit Union, founded in 1916, has 400,000 members and is the oldest credit union in New York and one of the oldest in the U.S., the institution said in the release.

“Our API platform will enable Municipal CU to enhance and extend digital payments as they fit for their members,” said Jeff Weikert, Payveris’ president.
