Payleven Working with Wirecard to Bulk up Its Tech for Expansion

Payleven is allying with Wirecard to pool their offerings as Payleven expands internationally. 

Payleven, which offers EMV-compliant mobile card acceptance, will continue to operate in the small to midsized business segment, while Wirecard's white-label program for mobile card readers will be geared toward those merchants who wish to use their own look and feel for their payments product, the companies said in a release.

Wirecard will provide merchant acquiring for mobile card reader technology, as well as risk and fraud management. Its multi-channel platform bundles international payment acceptances and methods. Wirecard also provides payment infrastructure, including license for card and account products.

"Payleven is a fast-growing company for mobile card acceptance, and is pursuing ambitious international targets. We are pleased to be able to contribute our expertise to this success story," said Jörn Leogrande, vice president for mobile services at Wirecard, in a press release.

Payleven has also recently begun selling its devices in European Apple stores, as it faces an increasingly competitive mobile-payments market.

The company has also recently expanded its technology via a partnership with Micros for a cloud-based EMV-compliant point of sale system.
