PayPal Inc. has developed an application for making person-to-person payments over Facebook Inc.'s social-networking site.
PayPal, a unit of eBay Inc., said Nov. 17 on its blog that roughly 80% of its active users also are active users of Facebook. PayPal, of San Jose, Calif., defines an active account as one that has sent, received or reversed a transaction within the previous 12 months and is able to transact.
"PayPal is going to where friends and family connect now," JB Coutinho, PayPal senior product marketing manager, wrote in the blog post.
PayPal's app enables users to send a digital greeting card with the funds or to send funds alone.
