PayPal has expanded its mobile payment options in the Netherlands.
The eBay unit's in-store payment service will now be accepted at 1,500 locations in the country, including cafes, cinemas, restaurants and parking meters.
PayPal is working with MyOrder, a payment service from Rabobank, to deploy its mobile wallet. "MyOrder has done a fantastic job building a nationwide community of businesses, any of which can now accept offline PayPal payments with no additional investment," Rupert Keeley, PayPal's senior vice president for the EMEA region, said in a July 23
Users will be able to pay for goods by selecting the "local" tab on the PayPal app and selecting a participating business, then swiping an icon on the screen to "check in" at that merchant. PayPal is also working on similar in-store, cashless payment options in Germany, France, Austria and the U.K.
