PayPal Forms Carrier Billing Relationship with Deutsche Telekom

PayPal has entered into an agreement that will allow Deutsche Telekom subscribers to make purchases and have them billed to their mobile phone account.

The partnership has an addressable audience of more than 144 million mobile consumers in 14 markets throughout Europe, PayPal says in a blog post on its website. PayPal's total carrier payments network includes more than 250 providers globally.

Consumers execute carrier payments by providing their mobile phone number instead of a card account number or login credentials.

"This deal helps to extend PayPal carrier payments across Europe and will provide an opportunity for both companies to reach more consumers and digital goods merchants," says Hill Ferguson, chief product officer for PayPal, in the blog post.
