Planet Payment, Vantiv Deploy 'Pay in Your Currency' at Billabong

Vantiv and Planet Payment have launched the Pay in Your Currency service at 85 Billabong locations in the U.S.

Billabong is an international manufacturing and distribution organization that sells surfwear and other extreme sports apparel. The company will use Pay in Your Currency to serve travelers to the U.S.

"As a global brand with a large international following, Billabong's customers come and shop in our U.S. stores from across the globe," said Roger Moreno, retail IT manager at Billabong USA in a release.

Pay in Your Currency allows international shoppers to pay with Visa or MasterCard payment cards in their home currency at the point of sale, rather than performing the conversion after the sale has been completed. Planet Payment has also partnered with TSYS to offer multi-currency payments at the point of sale.

"Our relationship with Planet Payment is a prime example of how our partner relationships enable merchants like Billabong to increase sales and provide new payments functionality," said Donald Boeding, president of merchant services at Vantiv, in a release.

Vantiv, which changed its name from Fifth Third Processing Solutions ahead of its IPO in March 2012, is also growing its electronic commerce capabilities via its acquisition of processor Litle & Co. and partnerships with IBCA Bancard and Optimal.

Vantiv is also one of the many companies supporting the Discover/PayPal digital payments partnership.
