RushCard Tightens Security in Post-Glitch App Launch

Just weeks after welcoming a new CEO and launching a fresh marketing push following some unwelcome technical issues, UniRush LLC is rolling out a new mobile app for its prepaid RushCard with improved security features.

The moves come eight months after a bruising technical glitch that blocked account access for thousands of RushCard users over several days, resulting in a $19 million settlement.

RushCard’s new mobile app introduces fingerprint authentication to access the app, and a feature called Pause Protection enabling users to temporarily block transactions for enhanced security, the company said in an Aug. 29 press release.

A pharmacy e-card also is now available to RushCard mobile app users, providing discounts on prescription medications at Walmart, according to UniRush.

The upgrade is part of RushCard’s recently launched “Make Moves” campaign, which aims to promote financial opportunities and responsibility.

“We are dedicated to providing safe, simple and affordable products for our customers to help them achieve their personal and financial goals,” said Ron Hynes, CEO, who joined RushCard last month, promising improvements.
