Samsung Enters Carrier Billing Partnership with Bango

Samsung Electronics has signed a global agreement with Bango to offer consumers direct mobile carrier billing options.

Samsung joins Amazon, BlackBerry World, Facebook, Firefox Marketplace, Google Play and Windows Phone Store in choosing Bango to power its carrier billing capability, the company said in an Oct.22 press release.

Bango, a payment technology firm in the U.K., will provide carrier billing, collection and settlement services for digital content purchased through the Samsung Galaxy Apps store. The partnership will allow hundreds of millions of Samsung device users to buy digital goods, including apps, music and games, and charge the cost on their phone bill with one click.

Bango’s payment data show consumers and merchants are becoming more interested in carrier billing, according to the release. From January 2014 to the end of August, the average conversion rate for carrier billing in app stores using the Bango Payments Platform was 82.4%.
