Singapore Commuters To Begin Testing EZ-Link Card This Month

IMGCAP(1)]

The Land Transport Authority of Singapore later this month plans to start testing EZ-Link contactless transit cards that commuters can use to pay highway tolls and parking fees, a spokesperson for the scheme tells CardLine Global. The authority has scheduled the start of the test for Friday and plans to finish it on 28 Oct. The test will involve 10,000 consumers, who will use cards with the Singapore Standard SS518 Contactless e-Purse Application, commonly known as CEPAS, Gregory Gerald Danker, vice president of marking and communications for EZ-Link, tells CardLine Global. The application is an interoperable small-payments platform used in Singapore. Previous cards have used Sony's Felica platform, he says. Consumers will be able to use the new EZ-Link cards for bus and train fares and for retail payments. Singapore has at least 10 million EZ-Link cards on issue, he adds.
