Singapore-based DBS Bank plans to issue credit cards and establish an ATM network in India within the next two to three years, a bank spokesperson tells CardLine Global. The bank entered India in 1994 and already offers wealth-management and wholesale banking services there. "India is one of the fastest growing markets in Asia, and with many Asian companies invested in there, there is the potential opportunity to provide completed products and services to corporate and individual customers in the market," the spokesperson says. "But it's too early to talk about details of our credit card in the country at this phase." Earlier this year, the Reserve Bank of India granted approval to the bank to set up eight new branches in India, DBS says.
