The new ID card will display a color image of the card holder after the user successfully scans a fingerprint for authentication, the New York-based company says in an April 14 release.

By embedding two identification features in the same card, SmartMetric is meeting “the ever growing demand for safe, instant anywhere anytime secure identity verification for both civilian and government uses," says Chaya Hendrick, president and CEO of SmartMetric.

The company also plans to release its MedicalKeyring product, which stores medical files for patients to take with them when they travel. Medical records are secured by biometric technology on a small device that attaches to a key ring, according to the release.

The MedicalKeyring will go into full production along with the SmartMetric fingerprint activated credit and debit cards in the near future, the company says.
