The South Korean government has announced that consumers who pay their medical bills with credit cards can take tax deductions similar to those offered to consumers who pay medical bills with cash. The government released few other details of the program, announced this week, and CardLine Global was unable to reach government officials for comment. The announcement highlights the government's effort "to shift more consumer-to-government transactions away from cash-based transactions," Sunil Devmurari, an analyst for United Kingdom-based Euromonitor International, tells CardLine Global. The recent announcement follows a government push to enable more citizens to pay taxes with credit cards, Devmurari notes.
