The Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication, or Swift, has named David Scola, a former Barclays exec, its new head of North America operations.
Scola will lead Swift's growth and innovation strategy for the U.S. and Canada beginning Oct. 1, according to a Tuesday press release.
"With a proven track record of leadership in the Americas and Europe, Dave is ideally positioned to deliver innovation and growth in North America," said Javier Pérez-Tasso, Swift's CEO for Americas and the U.K., in the release.
Scola spent seven years at Barclays, where he rose to global head of financial institutions, directing the bank's relationship managers serving other banks and broker-dealers across major financial centers, according to the release. Scola also served on Barclays' global transaction banking management committee.
Prior to joining Barclays, Scola spent seven years at Deutsche Bank as a managing director, and before that he worked in the corporate trust division of BNY Mellon.
