President Collect Service Corp., a Taiwan-based courier service, plans to use approximately 1,600 VeriFone Vx670 wireless payment terminals to collect home-delivery payments, VeriFone Holdings Inc. announced today. Many Taiwanese dislike submitting their payment card information for online or television shopping until the products are delivered, San Jose, Calif.-based VeriFone says.
President Collect Service will use the devices to collect home-delivery payments. VeriFone did not release the value of the deal, but Vx670 terminals sold at a wholesale price of $299 in December from Tasq Technology, a Rocklin, Calif.-based point-of-sale equipment distributor.
A unit of Japan-based Yamato Logistics Co. Ltd., President Collect Service has enrolled “hundreds” of merchants in the program, with delivery available in many parts of Taiwan. The Vx670 terminal can use wireless telecommunications or Wi-Fi to connect to payment networks.
