Hypercom Corp. said Tuesday that three regional rail operators in Germany are using the vendor's Artema Modular unattended payment terminals for self-service ticketing for travelers using debit and credit cards. United States-based Hypercom says the deals place one terminal on each of the 370 trains operated by the Abellio, Rheinbahn and Westfalen-Bahn rail systems. More than 200 million riders annually use the three rail lines, Hypercom says. Hypercom did not disclose the value of the terminals but says the contracts were with Altron Electronic GmbH and ICA Traffic GmbH, both Germany-based systems integrators.
