Trustwave, Akamai Partner to Deter Cyber-Attacks

Cloud services provider Akamai Technologies and data security vendor Trustwave are partnering to provide customers with cybersecurity defense mechanisms from their respective portfolios.

In the first phase of the strategic alliance, Cambridge, Mass.-based Akamai will offer Trustwave's managed security testing to fix vulnerabilities in databases, networks and applications through the cloud-based Trustkeeper platform, the companies state in a press release.

Akamai will also offer Trustwave's incident and response service through SpiderLabs, a team of more than 150 ethical hackers, forensic investigators and researchers who conduct hundreds of data breach investigations per year.

Chicago-based Trustwave will offer Akamai's managed denial-of-service attack protection designed to keep websites and applications available even in the midst of cyberattacks.

In its first quarter 2015 security report, Akamai said the first three months of the year set a record as distributed denial-of-service attacks more than doubled compared to the same period a year earlier.

Trustwave will augment its existing firewall portfolio with Akamai's Kona Site Defender for businesses that prefer a cloud deployment option.
