TSYS Lands Japanese Prepaid Card Processing Deal

Total System Services Inc., a United States-based transaction processor known as TSYS, said Thursday it had landed a deal to process Visa-branded prepaid cards issued by Japan-based Travel Bank Inc. TSYS will begin processing the cards in July. A TSYS spokesperson tells CardLine Global "it [is] too early to tell" how many Travel Bank cards TSYS will process. Comment from the Japanese bank was not immediately available. TSYS has operated in Japan since 2000 and last October added a data center in Okinawa, the spokesperson says.
