TSYS, Planet Payment Offer Multi-Currency Payments

Total Systems Services Inc. on April 25 debuted two services designed to make multi-currency shopping and payments easier for users to understand and execute.

TSYS' new Pay in Your Currency gives international customers the option to pay in their home currency at the point of sale. The receipt or terminal display shows the transaction amount in U.S. dollars and in the shopper's home currency, along with the daily exchange rate.

Another product, Shop in Your Currency, is meant for online merchants. Consumers view pricing and pay in their own currency on the merchant's website, while the merchant receives settlement in U.S. dollars.

The two new products are being powered by Planet Payment.

"Multi-currency solutions help our clients improve the payment experience for their customers by providing the option to shop and pay in their own currency," said Chris McNulty, group executive of sales for TSYS Merchant Solutions, in a release.

TSYS is also updating its card issuing systems to improve speed to market, and has recently acquired ProPay. It is in the process of buying the prepaid card marketer NetSpend, and TSYS recently extended its processing contract with prepaid issuer Green Dot.
