More than two-thirds of United Kingdom would choose a credit card with low fees over one with an attractive rewards program, according to survey results from New York-based Auriemma Consulting Group. Auriemma conducted the Internet-based survey of 516 UK credit card users during the second quarter. The survey found 20% of respondents believed rewards were the most important feature of their credit card, while 35% said low fees were the primary reason behind their decision to apply for a new card. Sixty-eight percent of respondents said they prefer a credit card with no fees and a low annual percentage rate even if it comes with an average rewards program. Auriemma believes the survey results indicate UK consumers will not embrace card-fee increases or new fees even as banks attempt to impose them in the face of rising bad debt and increasing funding costs.
