The San Jose, Calif.-based terminal maker said the contract is for roughly 500 cars. Those payment systems will allow passengers to pay with credit, debit or contactless cards in the backseat.

“VeriFone is first to provide a complete managed solution for taxi companies in Poland,” said Jeff Dumbrell, VeriFone’s executive vice president of Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia, in a press release Nov. 6. “Glob Taxi can now provide its drivers and passengers with the security and convenience of electronic payments, transforming the taxi experience and providing greater efficiency and profitability.”

VeriFone is currently providing such taxi payment systems to about 70,000 cabs in 17 countries, including Australia, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and the U.S.
