Richey will also keep her current role as Visa's chief risk officer while the company searches for a new risk chief. In both roles, Richey reports to Visa CEO Charlie Scharf.

Richey assumes the role vacated by Josh Floum, who left Visa to return to private practice, Visa said in a Dec. 19 press release.

Prior to joining Visa, Richey was senior vice president of enterprise risk management at Washington Mutual and was executive vice president of card services. She has also been a legal and risk executive at Providian.
