Visa Inc. has expanded the role of French secure-chip testing expert Fime, which will support the card network's mobile payment application testing.
Fime will provide validation of a Visa payment application on a secure element as part of its Visa payment card and terminal-testing portfolio, the company states in a Nov. 11 press release.
Fime operates as an independent consultant and testing service for compliance of mobile devices and chip-based applications to payments industry standards.
Visa's mobile payment application is a secure applet that resides in the secure element and to support payments on a phone with a Near Field Communication chip. Visa has accredited Fime to validate the application on multiple secure element form factors, Fime says.
"We are witnessing increasing demand for mobile payment testing from our customers, who are looking to capitalize on the many opportunities this advancing technology offers," Stephanie El Rhomri, NFC and payments vendor business line manager at Fime, states in the release.
