Duprat is currently CEO of the mobile security services company Verayo and was previously PayPal's general manager of mobile payments. Duprat has also worked at the terminal makers Hypercom and VeriFone. He joined Verayo in 2011.

"Eric brings a significant vision to the board with his blend of industry, technical and entrepreneurial expertise," says Michael E. Dubyak, Wex's executive chairman, in a March 18 press release. "With a strong background in international payments and technology, he will be a valuable contributor as Wex further globalizes its business and expands into new markets."

Dubyak was previously Wex's chairman and CEO. He became executive chairman in May 2013, when he handed over the job of company president to Melissa Smith, who was then Wex's president of the Americas, as part of the company's CEO succession plan. Smith became CEO at the start of January and retains the title of president.
