Bolstered by sales outside the U.S., ATM manufacturer Wincor Nixdorf today reported an $83.5 million profit for the first six months of fiscal 2009, up 4.8% from $79.7 million for the same period the previous fiscal year. The company, whose fiscal year begins Oct. 1, reported $1.6 billion in sales for the first six months of this fiscal year, up 6.7% from $1.5 billion. The manufacturer noted that sales in the Americas fell by 1%, to $133.3 million from $134.6 million. Eckard Heidloff, Wincor Nixdorf president and CEO, could not say how extensive the global financial crisis would affect the company or how long it would last. "On the basis of what we know up to now, we are holding firm to our forecast that our net sales and operating profit will be roughly on par with the previous year," Heidloff said in a statement.
