Western Union Co. is expected to announce today that Fifth Third Bancorp has agreed to offer its money transfer services at the Cincinnati banking company's more than 1,300 branches.

The Englewood, Colo., remittance company has made a push this year to persuade banks to offer its services.

In May, U.S. Bancorp began offering Western Union services at all of its branches, replacing MoneyGram International Inc.

And in April, Fidelity National Information Services Inc. agreed to offer Western Union international transfer services to the Jacksonville, Fla., technology vendor's 8,500 U.S. financial company clients.

Stewart Stockdale, a Western Union executive vice president and the president for the Americas, said in press release that the company is eager to expand its relationships with banks.

"Western Union understands the retail banking industry," he said.
