Jack Henry & Associates Inc. said Thursday that it is reviving the Alogent brand name for its line of check imaging applications.

Alogent Corp. was acquired in 2008 by Goldleaf Financial Solutions Inc., which in turn was bought by Jack Henry, of Monett, Mo., last year.

Several products that Alogent developed under the brand name Sierra are now being marketed as Alogent Deposit Automation Solutions. The product suite includes image-capture systems that can be deployed at teller windows or in banks' back offices, and remote capture technology that banks can offer to customers.

Jack Henry is offering them through its ProfitStars unit.

David Foss, ProfitStars' president, said in a press release that the Alogent products are "a strategic area of focus for our company, especially since they are uniquely suited to meet the needs of large financial institutions and international markets."

Political extortion from the banks in an election year
A slap on the wrist — the banks put reserves away for this long ago, they won't even feel it
