USA Technologies Inc. said Thursday that more than 71,000 vending machines and other self-serve systems are now linked to its payments network.

That total is up 12.3% from Dec. 31 and well on its way toward the Malvern, Pa., company's goal of 100,000.

USA Technologies' USALive network lets people use credit and debit cards at unattended kiosks and vending machines.

"We believe that consumers increasingly are demanding the ease and convenience of being able to use their credit and debit cards when purchasing from vending machines," George R. Jensen, USA Technologies' chairman and chief executive, said in a press release.
