Fiserv Inc. said demand has skyrocketed for Risk Office, a service that helps companies combat fraud.

Risk Office sales rose 400% in 2009, the Brookfield, Wis., vendor said last week. Risk Office provides investigative, consultive, monitoring and reporting services as well as other support.

"Discussing our fraud cases with the Risk Office team is invaluable in helping my credit union," Ginny Foster, financial services specialist at Appalachian Community Federal Credit Union in Kingsport, Tenn., said in a Fiserv press release.

Farmers National Bank in Lebanon, Ky., said Risk Office helped it through a crisis. "We were experiencing losses that resulted from another vendor's security breach," Rodney Lanham, vice president of information technology and data processing at Farmers National, said in the press release. Risk Office helped "quickly to stop the bleeding," he said.
