Elavon Unveils Hosted Payment Gateway

U.S. Bancorp's merchant acquiring unit, Elavon, has started a hosted payment gateway it calls Fusebox.

The service, announced Monday, moves transaction data to Elavon's data center, mitigating risk for the merchant, the Atlanta merchant acquirer said. The service also employs tokenization to replace actual account number information with a unique identifier.

Fusebox connects to hundreds of point of sale systems and to banks and processors, Elavon said.
