Apple's (AAPL) latest update to its mobile platform iOS 6 now allows iPhone users to purchase big screen tickets with the sound of their voices.
After installing the software, moviegoers can use the tech giant's personal assistant software, Siri, to buy the theater passes. Apple's voice recognition technology translates the speech and sends the payment information through the ticket service Fandago, which maintains an iPhone and iPad app.
The update was first noticed by the tech blog VentureBeat.
This isn't Apple's first move into mobile payments.
With the launch of its new iOS 6 platform this fall, the company debuted Passbook — a de-facto mobile wallet that can store information for multiple loyalty cards, concert tickets and airline boarding passes on the iPad or iPhone. Those coupons are redeemed at the counter using barcodes.
