Barclays Bank PLC announced Wednesday a mobile banking customer milestone: More than one million people have downloaded the London-based company's mobile banking app within six months of its launch.

The app debuted in July 2012.

Like most other mobile apps, Barclays' offering allows customers to check their account balances, view transactions, transfer money between Barclays accounts and locate nearby branches or ATMs.

Barclays' current mobile app version has earned three stars from 471 ratings in the iTunes store.
