ATMIA Publishes Guidance on Ways to Improve ATM Experiences

The ATM Industry Association has published new international recommendations on ways to make using ATMs feel more like interacting on smartphones and tablets.

Biometrics and HTML5 are among the technologies companies can deploy to modernize ATM experiences, said the London-based non-profit trade association in a press release Wednesday.

ATMIA's user interface recommendations come as banks worldwide are exploring ways to integrate ATMs with mobile banking apps.

"The importance of the ATM as a customer service channel is growing," said Mike Lee, chief executive officer of ATMIA, which represents more than 1.5 million ATMs around the globe, in a press release.
