The charter conversion will allow the 16,000-member credit union to serve anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Hartford, Tolland and Middlesex counties. Current members will not be impacted. The charter change goes into effect March 1.

“It is very important that affordable financial services are available to everyone in these counties,” president and CEO Robert Aresti said in a statement. “We are excited to become a part of these communities while providing new growth opportunities for the credit union.”

The $208 million credit union had a net income of $845,000 in 2014, and currently has more than $140 million in loans on the books, concentrated primarily in real estate and used auto lending.
