MSG President David Bartoo said the recent CU acquisitions of banks were not the impetus for the site, but he feels the blog-Bank And Credit Union Mergers And Acquisitions (www.mergersolutionsgroup.wordpress.com)-is timely, and a place where both bank and credit union executives can go to follow financial institution mergers of all types.

"I am just trying to bring awareness to everything that is happening around financial institution mergers, both big and small, healthy and distressed . . .," said Bartoo. "We will do more than share posts on merger activity that is happening, the site will also post news articles and share opinions."

With United CU acquiring Indiana's Griffith Savings Bank and GFA FCU buying Monadnock Community Bank, Bartoo sees a "blending" of the two financial communities that previously were separated. "I think what it comes down to is every bank and credit union is looking for the best deal out there. And if the best deal is going to be a credit union acquiring a bank or vice versa, I think in the business world it behooves everyone to try to find that best option."
