ONTARIO, Calif. – The task of finding a replacement for California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues President and CEO Bill Cheney is underway, as the two leagues on Monday named the members of a search committee and identified San Francisco-based O’Rourke and Associates as the search firm.
Last week CUNA announced Cheney will be taking the place of its retiring President and CEO Dan Mica. Cheney will step down from his CCUL/NCUL post on July 4, and will assume his new role at CUNA July 5. The California League board said it intends to fill the position in time for the two leagues’ Annual Meeting and Convention, Nov. 15-17.
“At this time no determination has been made about a potential interim appointment,” the leagues said in a statement.
Potential candidates for the CCUL/NCUL president and CEO position should contact the O’Rourke firm directly, the leagues said. A search committee has begun the process of developing criteria for the position, and top candidates selected from the applicant pool will be presented to the Executive Committee of the California League Board of Directors for interviews. The Executive Committee then will present its recommendation of a final candidate to the Board of Directors for approval.
CCUL Board Chairman Jeff York, CEO of CoastHills FCU in Lompoc, Calif., has appointed a search committee. The leagues said the committee offers representation from credit unions of various asset sizes and locations throughout California and Nevada. Members are:
• Brett Martinez, CEO of Redwood CU, Santa Rosa, Calif., committee chairman and immediate past chairman of the California League
• Eileen Rivera, CEO of SkyOne FCU, Hawthorne, Calif., and current 1st vice chairman of the California League Board
• Ron Seaman, chairman of the North Highlands, Calif.-based SAFE Credit Union board and member of the California League board
• Rudy Hanley, CEO of SchoolsFirst FCU, Santa Ana, Calif.
• Jon Hernandez, CEO of CalCom FCU (Torrance, Calif.), City of Downey FCU (Downey, Calif.) and Mattel FCU (El Segundo, Calif.)
• Wally Murray, CEO of Greater Nevada FCU, Carson City, Nev., and chairman of the Nevada League
• Benson Porter, CEO of Addison Avenue FCU, Palo Alto, Calif.
