WASHINGTON — The Cooperative Trust, the group for young professionals within the credit union movement, is calling for applications to "crash" CUNA's 2015 Governmental Affairs Conference.
The Trust, formerly known as the Crash Network, brings together young CU professionals for networking, mentorship and more, and each year it "crashes" the GAC. For 2015, the Trust will select one professional from each state and Washington, D.C. to "crash" the conference, which runs March 8-12 in Washington.
"Crash the GAC opens the door for young professionals," Trust manager James Marshall said in a statement. "It brings the focus back to the sustainability of the credit union movement. Attendees can gain access to these bright young minds while crashers learn the true meaning behind the credit union difference. If they can even bring back one idea to their credit unions, then we have had a successful Crash the GAC."
CUNA will foot the bill for conference registration for all crashers, with other costs carried by individual crashers and their credit union, though assistance from state leagues may be available. More than two dozen state leagues have committed to supporting "Crash the GAC" for 2015.
In addition to scheduled GAC events, Crashers will have access to exclusive sessions focused on state and federal credit union advocacy, as well as working to build action plans on how young professionals can continue to engage in advocacy efforts after leaving the conference and heading home.
The deadline for applications is January 2, 2015.
