Evansville Teachers Federal Credit Union pays out $3.8M to members

Evansville Teachers Federal Credit Union distributed almost $3.8 million to members via its consumer checking accounts in 2018.

The $1.8 billion-asset institution said on Thursday that roughly $2.3 million was returned in interest on vertical checking accounts, about $1.1 million in redeemable points for platinum rewards checking and almost $400,000 in reimbursements for ATM fees. The amount returned in 2018 was up about 61 percent from a year earlier.

“Our mission is to provide the best value for our members,” Bill Schirmer, the institution’s president and CEO, wrote to members. “We do this through innovative products and services that provide real benefits on a monthly basis.”

Based in Evansville, Ind., the credit union posted net income of about $10.5 million for the first nine months of 2018, a 41 percent drop from the same period in the prior year.
