BURLINGAME, Calif. – A former employee of Pacific Advantage FCU was sentenced to more than four years behind bars for stealing $428,000 from member accounts.
Norielyn Bautista, 44, pleaded no contest in August to four counts of grand theft, one count of forgery and one count of identity theft. In return, prosecutors agreed not to seek more than five years in prison on the condition the sentencing judge could consider all the charges — even the 38 counts that were dismissed — to determine the sentence length and restitution.
On Wednesday, Bautista received four years and eight months in prison with credit for 629 days.
Authorities said Bautista embezzled money from the credit union’s general fund and the accounts of 15 members. None of the money has been recovered.
Prosecutors say she used the funds for personal financial needs including school.
