Franken, Stein Speak To Tex. CUs

The Texas league drew more than 250 credit union to the state capital for its Governmental Affairs Conference. Several speakers stressed the importance of involvement, including Texas Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn, who observed, "One can get more done with kind words and smoking guns, than with kind words alone." Strayhorn reassured credit unions that she would oppose a franchise tax of any sort. The meeting included entertainment from political satirists Ben Stein and Al Franken.
